We touch on Frida Kahlo in the thirties, and move to Tropicalia in the sixties on to the current work of Santiago Sierra, Francis Alys, Doris Salcedo and Alfredo Jaar. Questions of the carnivalesque and anthropophagy, concretism and the participatory strategies of Lygia Clark and Oiticica will be addressed—how dance and politics intercept.
