Unit One charts the changes in European art from the postwar era until the fall of Berlin Wall in 1989. We will discuss issues of painting, politics and the huge impact on the arts of the “end” of communism. Questions of consumerism, American hegemony, and international pop art will be examined. The art ranges from England to France, Germany, and Eastern Europe.
