Working with data in tables

With GIS you are working with data. You need to become comfortable with working with data in tables called spreadsheets when working with a computer program like Excel. Knowing the type of data is important in how you categorize and visualize the data in a map. These ideas will be explored more when we learn about data visualization and categorization. For now, take a look at the exercises and powerpoint presentation below to review some basic data descriptors and statistics.
