Summary

In this session we will review how to complete the language proficiency data worksheet, and we will discuss how to write the language proficiency assessment report. Students are required to have analyzed the sample report prior to this session, and they will discuss the report in teams. Application activities will include exploring and improving on sample reports, as well as culturally responsive reporting of the data.

Part 1: Complete the language proficiency data worksheet using your own data. Bring completed worksheet to class.

Part 2: ​Analyze the attached report using the following questions:

1.What types of information are in the Background Information section?

2.What types of behavior are included in the Behavioral Observations section?

3.Review the results section:

a.How are the results organized?
b.What is the purpose of the first paragraph of the results section?
c.What links to the Behavioral Observations section are made?
d.Do the interpretations tie in with the Background Information? With second language acquisition variables?
 
4.What kinds of recommendations have been made?
