Borrowing Information: Account and Charging Out Books

Everything on borrowing materials from the Library

Your Library Account is Connected to Your CUNYfirst Account.

Your library account is now tied to your CUNYfirst credentials and is created automatically. There is no need to activate a library account; data is harvested from CUNYfirst every two days, so please allow time for the information from CUNYfirst to appear in the library system. Your EMPLID number or barcode number on your Brooklyn College ID is require for borrowing library materials. 

CUNY students, faculty and staff are able to change this information in CUNYfirst:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Home/mailing address
  • Phone number

Who can check out a book?

Current Brooklyn College and CUNY students, faculty and staff can use your EMPLID number for borrowing library materials.  Brooklyn College students, faculty and staff may also use the barcode number on your Brooklyn College ID.

CUNY Faculty may designate a "proxy borrower." For information about this, contact the Circulation Desk on the Library 1st floor, via CircDesk@brooklyn.cuny.edu, or at (718) 951-5328
