About Unit 2: The Portrait and the Nude in the Context of Gaze Theory
This section is an introduction to gaze theory. Students will read Laura Mulvey and bell hooks on the subject. Artists’ will range from the Renaissance painter Sofanisba Anguissola to artists in the early 20th Century to Cindy Sherman.
