Other Libraries: How To Borrow From Other CUNY Libraries

How To Borrow From Other CUNY Libraries

The CUNY-wide sharing program known as CUNY Resource Sharing allows you to borrow materials from other CUNY libraries.

To borrow:

  • Search for the item in the OneSearch
  • Select the item you want delivered, then choose “Request” or “Request This Item”
  • Log in with your CUNY Login user name and password
  • Select your desired delivery location and period of interest, then “Go” to complete the request

You may request books and other materials from other CUNY libraries to any CUNY library of your choice.

However, non-circulating and reserve items cannot be borrowed from other CUNY libraries.  The loan of media and music scores depends on each CUNY library’s policy.

If the material you are looking for is not available for borrowing from CUNY libraries, borrow it from other libraries with Interlibrary Loan.

Usually 3-5 days excluding weekends and holidays. Requests from the Hunter Health Professions and the School of Social Work Libraries require additional delivery time. Delivery times are impacted by delivery services, request volume, library staffing, and library systems issues.

When the item arrives, you will receive an email notification telling you that you can pick it up from that library’s circulation desk.

In the library catalog, go to My Account / Renew to view your account. Select the number next to Loans to view all the items checked out to you.  Check the title you wish to renew and click “Renew Selected.”

Items borrowed from CUNY libraries can be returned at any CUNY library.
