As stated in our General Collection Policy, the Brooklyn College Library “provides the maximum support possible for current instructional needs.” We are happy to consider recommendations for films of all types including documentaries and commercial and independent films.
Please note the following:
We will acquire films based on appropriateness for our collection, availability, and current budgets.
In general, we will purchase streaming media over DVD format.
Due to budget constraints we preference requests from faculty for required course material to support courses. However, we do accept requests from students and will do our best to obtain films within our budget and in line with our collection development policy.
We may not be able to license some films (typically commercial) because streaming platforms already hold the rights to them (Netflix, MAX, Hulu, etc.) or they are currently in theaters/film festivals.
Before requesting a film please check our holdings in OneSearch and availability on the internet.
