Library Film Permissions and Restrictions in Group Settings

In-Person classes

All films owned or hosted by the Library can be viewed in their entirety during an in-person class session. Please note that use beyond the in-person class varies.

Online classes

  • Streaming films available at the Library may be shared in their entirety during a class session. The Library link to the film can also be shared for students to view outside of class.

  • Portions or clips of DVDs, VHS, or other print media may be shown during an online class but cannot be shown in their entirety due to copyright restrictions.

Events at Brooklyn College

  • Most streaming films owned or hosted by the Library can be viewed in their entirety for in-person events hosted by Brooklyn College affiliated groups or organizations if no admission is charged.

  • Event use for DVDs, VHS, and other print media vary. Check to see if the public performance rights are listed in the OneSearch record for the film or contact us. 

All other uses of Library owned or hosted films
