Many transfer students return to their former institutions to use their Library resources. However, don't feel like you have to! It is probable that the Brooklyn College Library has many of the same resources that your other library had. In fact, if you transferred here from another CUNY school, you will likely see familiar resources, such as OneSearch and JSTOR, since the CUNY library system shares access to many major resources.
Under normal circumstances as a Brooklyn College student, you can use any other CUNY library when they're open (including the one you transferred from, if that's the case). Currently, there might be limited or no access to other campuses. Please check at the Reference Desk (Library First Floor, when we're open) or Ask A Librarian to see if we have what you're looking for at BC. You can also chat with a librarian 24/7! And, check with individual libraries to see if they are open, and/or if they have any restrictions to visiting their sites.
One of the most important pieces of advice we give new transfer students is to know the logins and passwords for all of your accounts.
Note: You need to know your EMPLID to sign in to a computer in the computer labs and to access the campus printing system and WiFi. More on this later.
Note: Your EMPLID is not the same number on your physical and virtual ID cards (your barcode number). The number on your physical/virtual ID is your Library Barcode Number and Password. More on this later.
