Reserves: Using Online Library Materials

The Library offers a wealth of digital resources, including eBooks, digital articles, and streaming media, ideal for enhancing your class materials. Linking to these resources is an excellent way to provide course content to students at no cost.

To make sure your students can access these materials from home, it’s crucial to use links that trigger authentication. Here’s how:

Permalink in OneSearch (recommended)

Step 1: Look up the title in OneSearch

Step 2: Click the "..." to the right of the record for more options

Step 3: Select permalink, then copy the link to paste into your syllabus, course site, etc.

URLs for Library E-Resources in Databases:

Copy/paste link

Many databases provide a stable URL that includes authentication details. Simply copy and paste from your browser, or if there is a linking tool available in the database.

For example:
https://onlinelibrary-wiley-com.brooklyn.ezproxy.cuny.edu/doi/10.1111/josl.12558

Creating Authentication Links

If a URL does not include authentication information, you can add this prefix to the URL:
 https://brooklyn.ezproxy.cuny.edu/login?url=

 For example:
 http://brooklyn.ezproxy.cuny.edu/login?url=https://journals.aps.org/prresearch/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevResearch.2.043441
