Unit 3 addresses the early work of Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns in light of competing readings of their work ranging from the formal to the biographic and the homoerotic. Assemblage and Neo Dada are problematized terms. Other artists such as Di Suvero and Chamberlain are included here.
