- working with your partner, find two four hour periods (before the due date) of time that you are both free
- for each four hour session, one of you will "assist" the other one on a ongoing project of their choice. For clarity, we will call one who presents the work the "Artist" and the one who accomplishes the tasks the "Assistant"
- the "Assistants" will make a presentation to the class on critique day.
Responsibilities of the "Artist"
- the Artist must be on time to the meeting
- the Artist must spend time before the session engineering a suitable task. It needs to be both actually helpful and interesting. The tasks can be artistic research or execution. The task must be accomplished with some supervision during the four hour period (i.e. if the Assistant is doing internet research, they must check in with the Artist during the four hours and of course at the end)
- the Artist must teach the necessary skills to do the task
- the Artist must provide feedback after the session
Responsibilities of the "Assistant"
- the Assistant must be on time to the meeting
- the Assistant give the tasks at hand their best effort. They should ask questions about the Artists intent and techniques wherever possible.
- after the session, the Assistant, must document the project they were working on and create a presentation of the Project that was undertaken
- again, during class, the Assistant will present this project
PARTNERSHIPS FALL 2025:
Working with your group, design a performance or installation that reenacts a meaningful actual event or situation. If possible this should be presented live but if necessary can also be produced as a video or website. Be prepared to show and discuss the documentation you used to begin the project (ie what kind of documents you used as source material).

Project 4 : Social Media Project
DUE NOV 13
Using social media as both process and platform, create a project that questions ideas appropriate to the format. If helpful, draw upon Byung-Chul Han's book "The Transparency Society". You may work alone with your own social media account, but it is suggested to create a new account with others to expand the reach of the project and to create a distinction from your personal use of these forms.
Ideas:
• creating a social media account for a fictional character with several videos or images that build over time
• creating a series of texts or literary works collaboratively to be presented on with social media
• create a work dependent on audience participation or interaction online

... transparency failed - mystique on the other hand....
This is the moment where collaboration, participation, and interaction, will happen with a larger public (which could be a specific community). The form will be an exhibition or workshop that has elements of participation with or education for "the public". Artists will work within small teams organized around a class topic to create calls for, receive, format, and present artwork created by "the public".
Projects may be new but could also extend one of the previous projects (either by the same collaborators or different ones). If the social media project is extended, find a way to develop the work for in person exhibition.
Calls for participation may include public lectures, social sculptures, participatory games, or skillshare opportunities.

These are do as discussion items during the class you are presenting in.
Every student is responsible for 1-2 presentations (2 if article was short)
