Mapping Resources

OpenGeoSci
OpenGeoSci is a free, map-based discovery interface providing geographic searching for more than 300,000 maps, cross-sections, charts, tables, and other high-value content from GeoScienceWorld (GSW) publications. Search results can be filtered by journal, topical category, publication date, zooming in on the map, or an area filter. Selecting a result on the map will open a content box that displays the data result, caption information, citation information, and a link to the original publication.
NRCS Soil Surveys
This website is part of the National Cooperative Soil Survey, an effort of Federal and State agencies, universities, and professional societies to deliver science-based soil information. The organization provides links to information about geospatial research, soil surveys, soil data, and world soils. The NRCS site also features images, posters, maps, and charts, as well as a soil glossary.
USGS Maps and Data
USGS maps range from detailed local areas to the world. Because they can show many kinds of information, they are excellent for a wide range of uses.

StoryMaps is available via an ArcGIS CUNY subscription-free to all CUNY students and faculty. Brooklyn College currently has a subscription to ArcGIS, a proprietary GIS mapping software and web application, for the online and the desktop versions. To download the software to your personal computer, you must first activate your Esri account.
