ENGL 1012: Animals & Ethics 🐘

OneSearch

OneSearch is your first stop in research at the Brooklyn College Library.

It includes almost everything we have access to in print or online.

Search for specific titles/authors, or use keywords to browse what is available on your topic.

OneSearch is the search bar on the Library website.

Keyword searching

Break your topic down into keywords, rather than searching for full questions or sentences. You will likely refine your topic as you search, and that's ok!

For example, let's say the topic you are exploring is:

What are some ethical dilemmas related to the process of creating a memoir?

Advanced search screen. The first search box has the key word ethic with an asterisk. The second search box has the keyword string memoir OR autobiograph with an asterisk.

Exploring Resources

Be sure to explore resources that come up to see if they may be helpful for you. You can usually find a good deal of information by clicking on the title of a resource in OneSearch to learn more like:

  • A book's table of contents (non-fiction chapter titles are usually specific)
  • The description of the book or abstract of the article (to get an idea if this is going in the right direction for you)

Citing Resources

Every result in OneSearch has the option to copy/paste the citation. Look for the " and then choose your style.
