Registration Deadlines 

NYS Primary April 2, 2024 Presidential Primary Election Deadlines

Mail Registration--Application must be received by a board of elections no later than March 23, 2024 to be eligible to vote in the Presidential Primary.
In Person Registration  You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the Presidential Primary, your application must be received no later than March 23, 2024

General Election November 5, 2024 General Election Deadlines

Mail Registration-- Applications must be received by a board of elections no later than October 26, 2024 to be eligible to vote in the General Election.
In Person Registration-- You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the General Election, your application must be received no later than October 26, 2024.

 

To Register to Vote in NYC You Must :

  • Be a citizen of the United States (Includes those persons born in Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
  • Be a New York City resident for at least 30 days.
  • Be 18 years of age before the next election.
  • Not be serving a jail sentence or be on parole for a felony conviction, (unless you have received a pardon for voting purposes).
  • Not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court.
  • Not claim the right to vote elsewhere (outside the City of New York).

U.S. Election Assistance Commission 
Established by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA), the EAC is an independent, bipartisan commission charged with developing guidance to meet HAVA requirements, adopting voluntary voting system guidelines, and serving as a national clearinghouse of information on election administration. EAC also accredits testing laboratories and certifies voting systems, as well as audits the use of HAVA funds.

American Leaders Speak: Recordings from WWI and the 1920 Presidential Elections

The Nation's Forum Collection consists of fifty-nine sound recordings of speeches by American leaders from 1918-1920. The speeches focus on issues and events surrounding the First World War and the subsequent presidential election of 1920. Speakers include: Warren G. Harding, James Cox, Calvin Coolidge, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Samuel Gompers, Henry Cabot Lodge, and John J. Pershing. Speeches range from one to five minutes.

The Record Of American Democracy (ROAD) data includes election returns, socioeconomic summaries, and demographic measures of the American public at unusually low levels of geographic aggregation. The NSF-supported ROAD project covers every state in the country from 1984 through 1990 (including some off-year elections).
