Board and card games can be extremely adaptable to promote various types of critical thinking, and teach complex concepts step by step.
Board and card games can require longer times to set up and to learn the rules. They are not geared to teaching information quickly, but promoting problem-solving skills. Physical set-up of these games can be an issue in a traditional as well as an online classroom, and sometimes creative solutions are necessary.
Very complex but truly educational and beautifully designed strategy game about the gradual abolition of slavery. Although Pax Emancipation costs money, it could be considered OER if the instructor would buy a set for student use.
