The Brooklyn College Library offers a unique internship experience. We actively seek current graduate ML(I)S students to intern in various units within the Library. The intern experience is designed to give students a broad understanding of the organization and functioning of an academic library, as well as to provide the student with opportunities to serve the public in roles supported by their assigned unit. Each intern will engage in several semester-long projects that support Library goals and match interns' interests. Work on these projects is designed to provide the intern with a substantive product to show as an example of their own achievements at the Library. Interns will also have opportunities to collaborate with other librarians, attend conferences, and investigate publishing opportunities. Upon successful completion of the internship, participants will present their work to colleagues in the Library.
Any current CUNY graduate student interested in a Library internship is encouraged to apply. Current non-CUNY graduate ML(I)S students interested in applying for a Library internship must be enrolled in a credit-bearing internship course at their institution during the semester that the internship is offered.
NB: The Library internship program does not accept high school students or undergraduate students.
If you are interested in an internship, please follow the instructions for each individual posting, and send all required materials to Prof. XXX, Internship Coordinator.
Unless otherwise specified, applications for the Fall semester are due August 15, and applications for the Spring semester are due January 15. The internship program is not active during the Summer or Winter semesters. Check here to see if positions have been filled.
