The Friends of the Library program at Brooklyn College provides non-affiliates with access to the Library and on-site Library resources. Funds from paid memberships generate financial support for the Library. Membership is open to everyone, and anyone interested in the collections and services of the Library is welcome to join.
Membership Benefits
- A Friends of the Library ID card that must be produced along with a state ID for access to campus and the Library.
- Access to Library spaces, attendance at public lectures and workshops, research help.
- On-site computer use (credentials obtained at Circulation Desk).
- Borrowing of up to 5 regularly circulating items at a time from the Library’s collection.
- Privileges expire at the termination of the membership period; renewal of the Friends of the Library membership is necessary to continue privileges.
Membership Restrictions
- Brooklyn College and CUNY students have priority use of the Library.
- Guest WiFi in the Library is available only to individuals with current eduroam credentials.
- Remote access to Library electronic resources is not available; Friends of the Library are encouraged to use the remote-access resources of the three NYC public library systems:
- In addition FOL members do not have access to: Laptop borrowing, Faculty Training & Development Lab (FTDL), Inter-Library Loan (ILL), Group study or media room reservations.
- All visitors to the Library are expected to adhere to Library policies and guidelines.
- Members must be 18 years of age.
- Membership is non-transferrable.
