This invitation to the Inner Circle's 1946 show is part of the Papers of Peter McGuiness.  McGuiness (1888-1948) was a Democratic politician from the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn.  His papers consist mainly of scrapbooks created by McGuiness himself as well as photographs and memorabilia such as this Inner Circle invitation. Every year since 1922, New York City reporters, who are members of the Inner Circle, perform a show lampooning city, state, and national politics. The tiger leaning on the flagpole is a reference to Tammany Hall.
