The Center for Research in Security Prices is one of eight research centers housed in the University of Chiago's Booth School of Business. In 1960, Chicago Booth embarked on the development of the world’s first comprehensive database for historical security prices and returns information. The research-quality data created by this transformational project spawned a vast amount of scholarly research from several generations of academics. For more than 55 years CRSP has maintained the level of quality and industry standards set in the formation of CRSP. Today, with a staff of nearly 80 professionals, CRSP continues its commitment to providing research data for the most rigorous tests in academic research, and in backtesting applications by practitioners.
The Murray Koppelman School of Business at Brooklyn College has purchased access to these three datasets. Access to these data sets is only at the library or faculty can request the software to install on their computers. The links below lead to the online documentation for these datasets.
Locations for Students: CRSP can be accessed locally on the Bloomberg Professional terminals. There are two Bloomberg Terminals on the lower level in the Current Periodicals room. There are five Bloomberg Professional terminal available on the first floor next to the Reference Desk.
For Faculty: CRSP is installed on the Bloomberg Professional terminal available at the Faculty Training and Development Lab. Faculty can email the business librarian to request access to the software (CRSPSift) and data files. Faculty will need to have a Windows (Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit, and Windows 8 64-bit) computer to run the software.
